How to hand off a project to a client

Learn how to transfer a Studio.Design project to a client, including inviting their account, changing permissions, updating payment settings, and leaving the project.

In Studio.Design, accounts and projects are managed separately. Projects can be shared with other user accounts and managed by multiple people.

When you need to transfer a project to a client or change who manages it, follow the steps below.

Steps to hand off a project

  1. Have the client create a Studio.Design user account.
If the client doesn't already have a Studio.Design account, ask them to sign up at https://app.studio.design/ja/signup. If they already have an account, skip to step 2.

  2. Invite the client's account to the project.
Invite the client's account to the project you want to hand off, and assign them the Owner role. For details on how to invite members, see the article below.

  3. Change the invited account's permissions to Owner or Billing Owner.
Update the invited account's permissions to Owner so they can manage the project.

If the project is on a paid plan and the client will be handling payments, the client needs to become the Billing Owner.

For more details on changing the Billing Owner, see the article below.

  4. Leave the project from the original account.
After the handoff, the original account holder can leave the project if needed by removing themselves from the project members.

If you'll continue to be involved in managing the project, you can stay on as a member.
