What to do if copy and paste isn't working

There can be several reasons why copy and paste or keyboard shortcuts aren't working in Studio.Design. This article walks you through three ways to narrow down the cause.

There are several reasons why copy and paste or keyboard shortcuts might not be working. In this article, we'll walk you through three ways to narrow down the cause.

1. Try using Incognito mode

Chrome extensions can sometimes prevent copy and paste from working. Since most extensions are disabled in Incognito mode, this is a helpful way to narrow down the cause.

Click the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner of your browser, select [New Incognito window], and try copying and pasting in Incognito mode.

If copy and paste works fine in Incognito mode, a Chrome extension is likely the cause. In that case, try disabling your Chrome extensions one at a time to identify the problematic one, and consider removing it.

2. For Mac users: Check your keyboard settings

If you're using a Mac and the issue persists even in Incognito mode, check your Mac's keyboard settings.

Make sure "Paste and Match Style" isn't set. This setting prevents copied content from being pasted with its original formatting. If it's enabled, try turning it off.

3. Check your extension shortcut settings

Go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts and review the shortcut settings for your extensions. Check whether shortcuts like copy (⌘ + C) or paste (⌘ + V) have been assigned to other extensions, and edit them as needed.

4. If the steps above don't solve the issue

Try the following:

  • Restart your computer.

  • Log out of Studio.Design and log back in.

Contact Studio.Design Support

If none of these steps solve the issue, please reach out to chat support by clicking the "?" icon in the bottom-right corner of the editor.
