Social Cover Image

Updated today

What is a Social Cover Image?

A social cover image, also known as a thumbnail or OGP image, is an image that is displayed when a URL is shared on social networking sites or in search results.

By setting an image that matches the content of each page, you can increase the visibility of your post and make it easier for users to understand.

Note: Social cover images cannot be set for modals.

This article will walk you through the process of setting up social cover images.

(1) Open the Site Settings panel and Page Settings panel.

With no elements (boxes) selected, open the right panel.

Use the [Page] tab for page-by-page settings and the [Site] tab for site-wide settings.

Point: Difference between Site Settings and Page Settings

In Studio, you can set the title and description both on a per-site and per-page basis.

  • Site Settings: Applies to the entire site. If a page does not have a page setting, the site setting will be applied to it.

  • Page settings: Applies to individual pages only and takes precedence over site settings.

(2) Uploading Images

[Under "Social Coverage," click the Image Upload button and select the image file you wish to use.

  • Recommended size; 200px x 630px

  • Recommended file size; less than 5MB

If the file size is too large, the image may not load properly depending on the SNS or usage environment.

To delete an image, hover over it and click the [X] that appears in the upper right corner.

When using images from CMS properties

In the page settings of a dynamic page, hover over the social cover image to see a list of properties associated with the article. By clicking on it, you can select the image associated with the article.

(3) Publish or update your site

After setting or changing images, publish or update the site to reflect the settings.

If you change the OGP image on a site that has already been published, it will not be reflected on external services until you update the site.

Note: Time lag in reflecting the changes to the published site

If you change the OGP image after the site is published, it will not be immediately reflected in search results or social networking services. This is because each SNS manages the linkage between URL and cover image independently and uses cache. Please wait a while for the change to be reflected.
