Things to Know and How to Avoid Issues When Changing Plans

Each Studio.Design plan offers different features and usage limits. Please read this article carefully before upgrading or downgrading your plan.

1. Changing from Monthly to Monthly, or Annual to Annual Plans

You can upgrade or downgrade between monthly plans, or between Annual plans. However, please note the following:

Note: If you’re switching from a legacy plan (Starter, CMS, or old Business) to a new plan (Mini, Personal, Business, or Business Plus), some of the points below may not apply.

For details about switching between legacy and new plans, please see [About the December 1, 2024 Plan Changes | Plan Migration].

When Upgrading

  • Your upgrade takes effect immediately, and your new plan starts right away.

  • Any unused time on your previous plan will be automatically credited.

When Downgrading

  • Your downgrade will take effect on your next renewal date. Until then, your current plan will remain active.

  • If you’re using features not included in your new plan, or if your number of pages exceeds the new plan’s limit, your site will automatically become unpublished when the downgrade happens.

Please make sure to adjust your site to fit the new plan’s limits before your renewal date.

Your site will become unpublished at the time of plan change if:

  • The number of pages exceeds the limit of your new plan

  • Password protection is enabled (and you’re downgrading to the Mini plan)

  • Redirect settings are enabled (and you’re downgrading to the Personal or Mini plan)

  • Custom headers are enabled (and you’re downgrading to the Business, Personal, or Mini plan)

If you exceed the limits for the following items, your site will not be unpublished, but you may face usage restrictions after the change:

Items That Will Have Usage Limits If Exceeded

Item

What happens if you exceed the limit?

Number of active CMS models

If you have more active models than your new plan allows, items in models with the fewest published items will be changed to “Draft” until you’re within the limit.

Number of published CMS items

If you have more active models than your new plan allows, items in models with the fewest published items will be changed to “Draft” until you’re within the limit.

Number of form responses

Any responses over the new plan’s limit will no longer be viewable in your dashboard.

Note: If your payment fails when downgrading

If your registered payment method fails during the downgrade, the project owner will receive an email notification.

If a valid payment method is not registered within 23 hours after the failed payment, your project will automatically switch to the Free plan, and your site will become unpublished.

2. Changing from Monthly to Annual Plans

You can switch from a monthly plan to an annual plan if you’re moving to the same or a higher plan. Any unused time on your monthly plan will be credited toward your annual plan.

Example: You can upgrade from a monthly Personal plan to an annual Business or Business Plus plan. However, switching from a monthly Personal plan to a yearly Mini plan is not possible, as the Mini plan is on a lower tier: If you change to an annual plan partway through your monthly plan, the unused time will be credited to your new annual plan.

3. Changing from Annual to Monthly Plans

You cannot switch directly from an annual plan to a monthly plan.

To make this change, please follow these steps:

  1. Downgrade your current plan to the Free plan.

  2. Wait until your annual plan’s contract end date.

  3. Once on the Free plan, start a new monthly plan contract.

Note:

  • When you switch to the Free plan, your published site will automatically become unpublished.

  • After switching to a monthly plan, you’ll need to reconnect your domain and republish your site. Your site will not be viewable until republishing is complete.

4. Canceling Your Plan

How to Cancel (Downgrade to the Free Plan)

You can downgrade your plan to the Free plan at any time. For detailed steps, see [How to downgrade your project plan].

Undo a Cancellation Request

You can continue using your plan’s features until your contract end date, even after submitting a cancellation request.

If you’d like to undo your cancellation request, you can do so by clicking [Resume Plan] before the downgrade takes effect.

5. If You Accidentally Upgraded

Please note that once a payment has been made, we generally cannot offer refunds. If you accidentally upgrade your plan, we cannot cancel or refund the payment. Please double-check your selection before confirming any plan changes.

6. How to Change Your Payment Currency

To change the payment currency for your project, you’ll need to cancel your current plan and downgrade to the Free plan.

Once the cancellation is complete, you can upgrade again using an account that supports your desired currency.

Please note that we cannot refund any payments that have already been made.

7. How to Check Your Plan Status

You can check your current plan at the bottom left of your project dashboard.

Plans renew automatically on a monthly or annual basis, starting from the day you upgraded.

Example:If you upgrade to a paid monthly plan on April 19, your next payment will be due on May 19.

Tip : If you want to avoid automatic renewal, please downgrade to the Free plan before your renewal date.
