Canceling your Studio.Design account

Learn what to consider before canceling your Studio.Design account, when cancellation isn't necessary, how it affects your workspaces and projects, and the steps to cancel. Note: to prevent fraud, you can't re-register with the same email.

Important: Please review the following before closing your account.

  • Closing your account may affect the plans and publishing status of any projects your account is part of.

  • Once your account is closed, it cannot be restored.

  • To prevent abuse, as a general rule, you cannot re-register using the same email address as a closed account.

  • If you have an unavoidable reason that requires you to re-register with the same email address, please contact Studio.Design's customer support (contact@studio.design) by email.

When you don't need to close your account

Closing your account suspends and shuts down your Studio.Design account itself. Since you won't be able to re-register with the same email address after closing your account, we recommend considering other options depending on your goal.

How closing your account affects things

1. Impact on projects

The impact on your projects depends on the role of the account you're closing.

2. Impact on templates you've published for sale

If you've published templates on the Studio Store, your templates will be unlisted and their live previews will become unpublished as soon as your account is closed. Please unlist your templates beforehand.

Before closing your account

Depending on the status of your workspaces and projects, some steps need to be completed before you can close your account. Taking care of these in advance helps prevent unintended site unpublishing or billing issues.

Check your account status and prepare

Follow the steps below to check the workspaces and projects you belong to and your role in each, then complete any necessary steps.

Step 1. Check your workspace memberships

If you're part of a workspace as an Owner or Member, you won't be able to close your account. To close your account, follow the steps below to complete the prerequisite tasks based on your status.

Tip: If you don't belong to any workspace, skip to Step 2. Check the status of your projects.

  1. On the left side of the project list screen, check under [Workspace] to see if you belong to any workspaces.

Project list screen showing workspaces the user belongs to.
  2. If you belong to one or more workspaces, check your account's role in each workspace dashboard.

In the workspace dashboard, click the member management button to the left of [Settings] to view your role.

Step 2. Check the status of your projects

Check your role in each project you belong to and the information of the other users on the project, then complete the appropriate prerequisite steps based on your status.

To check your projects, follow these steps:

  1. Review the projects you belong to in your project list.

Project list screen showing the projects the user belongs to
  2. In each project's dashboard, click [Members] on the left side of the screen to check your account's role and the information of the other users on the project.

  3. Referring to a–c below, complete the prerequisite steps based on your role in each project and the status of other users on it.

    1. If you have any project that matches the following:

      • A project where the account you're closing is the only Owner (or Billing Owner) and other users are also on the project

    2. If you have any project that matches either of the following:

      • A project where only the account you're closing is a member

      • A project with multiple users where the account you're closing is the Billing Owner and there are other Owners

You can close your account, but the project's billing will stop and the site will be unpublished. To avoid unexpected issues, we recommend taking some steps before closing your account. See Step 4. Manually stop billing and unpublish your site (recommended).

    3. If your role in all projects you belong to matches one of the following:

      • The account you're closing is an Editor

      • The account you're closing is an Owner, and there are multiple other Owners

You can close your account as is. There will be no impact on your projects. See How to close your account to proceed.

Step 3. Transfer Owner role to another user, or remove all users from the project (required only if you match Step 2. 3-a)

If you have a project where the account you're closing is the only Owner (or Billing Owner) and other users are also on the project, complete one of the following steps.

If you want to keep the project after closing your account

Transfer the Owner or Billing Owner role to another account. Then follow How to close your account to proceed.

  1. Click your account icon in the top right of the project dashboard.

  2. Select [Settings] from the menu.

  3. Click the [Account] tab.

  4. Select [Close Studio.Design account].

Once your account is closed, you won't be able to re-register a Studio.Design account using the same email address.

Confirming your account is closed

After completing the steps, you can confirm that your account was closed in the following ways:

  • Once your account is closed, a confirmation email is sent to your account's email address. If you don't receive it, the account may not have been closed properly.

  • When you try to log in with a closed account on the login screen, your account has been closed if you see the message "This account has been closed."

If you don't see an error and are able to log in, please contact our chat support from the [?] icon at the bottom right of the screen.
