DNS Record Setup

Learn how to configure the DNS records needed to connect your custom domain to your Studio.Design site. Includes setup guides for popular domain providers and key tips to keep in mind.

Tip: Publishing your Studio.Design site with a custom domain

To use a custom domain with your Studio.Design site, follow the steps below in order. For more details, see Publishing your site with a custom domain.

Step 1. Purchase a custom domain from an external service
Step 2. Create a site in Studio.Design and subscribe to a paid plan
Step 3. Prepare your custom domain connection in Studio.Design
Step 4. Configure DNS records with your external service (this article)

How to configure DNS records

DNS record settings tell your domain where to point and how it will be used (for example, as a website or a mail server). These settings are configured on the external service where your domain is registered and managed, not within Studio.Design.

For detailed setup instructions with popular domain services, see the articles below.

Tip: The A record for Studio.Design sites is 34.111.141.225.

Things to keep in mind when setting up DNS records

DNS record changes can take a few hours to take effect. If you want to publish your site on a specific date, we recommend completing your DNS setup at least one day in advance.

Note: About SSL certificate issuance time Depending on how quickly your DNS records propagate, **certificate issuance can take up to about 72 hours.** To help you publish your site faster, Studio.Design provides manual issuance support if certificate issuance takes longer than 4 hours. If you run into any trouble, please reach out to us through chat support.

AAAA records

Studio.Design does not support AAAA records (IPv6 addresses), so no configuration is needed. If an AAAA record is set, certificate issuance will fail.

CNAME records

Studio.Design does not support CNAME (Canonical Name) records, so no configuration is needed. Setting a CNAME to redirect subdomains like "www" will not work. For redirects, consider handling them on the DNS side. Please contact your domain service for details on whether this is supported and how to set it up.

CAA records

Setting CAA records is generally not required. However, if you're connecting a subdomain and the root domain already has a CAA record set, additional configuration is needed. Add the following CAA records in your subdomain's DNS settings:

If you're using Cloudflare

When Cloudflare's DNS Proxy mode is enabled, certificate issuance and renewal may not work properly. We recommend turning it off.
