DNS Record Setup: Connect a Domain from XServer to Your Studio.Design Site

Learn how to set up DNS records in XServer to prepare your custom domain for connecting to your Studio.Design site.

Point: Publishing your Studio.Design site with a custom domain

To use a custom domain with your Studio.Design site, follow the steps below in order. For more details, see Publish your site with a custom domain.

Step 1. Get a custom domain from an external service
Step 2. Create your site in Studio.Design and subscribe to a paid plan
Step 3. Prepare your custom domain connection in Studio.Design
Step 4. Configure DNS records with your external service (this article)

This article walks you through Step 4 above — how to set up DNS records to connect a domain registered with XServer to your Studio.Design site.

Before you start

(1) Open the domain settings page

  1. Log in to XServer Domain. The domain list page will appear.

  2. Click the [⋮] icon next to your domain, then open [DNS Record Settings].

(2) Add and apply Studio.Design's A record to your domain (DNS record settings)

  1. Click [Add DNS Record Setting].

  2. Enter the A record values specified by Studio.Design according to the table below.

  3. Click [Proceed to Confirmation Screen].

Host name

・For a domain without "www": leave blank
・For a domain with "www" or another subdomain: enter the subdomain name such as www or corp

Type

A

Content

34.111.141.225

Tip: Domains with and without "www"

・A domain with "www" and one without are treated as two separate domains.

・In Studio.Design, only one domain can be connected to a website.

Example: If you connect the non-www domain "example.com" to your Studio.Design site and publish it:
・Visiting "example.com": the site will load.
・Visiting "www.example.com": the site will not load.

4. Review the details, then click [Add Setting].

Your DNS record setup is now complete.

(3) Check that your DNS record has propagated

Use an external DNS lookup tool to confirm that your A record has been applied correctly.

Example: Checking with Google Admin Toolbox Dig

  1. Enter your domain in the [Name] field.

  2. If [34.111.141.225] appears in the [DATA] column of the results, your settings have been applied successfully.

There may be an issue with your DNS settings in the following cases:

  • A different address appears

  • Multiple addresses appear

  • "Record not found!" is displayed

Reference: You can also check DNS record propagation using other tools like DNS Checker.

Once you've confirmed that the DNS record has propagated, move on to Step 5 of "Publish your site with a custom domain" and check the domain connection status in Studio.Design.
