Key Point: Publishing Your Studio.Design Site with a Custom Domain
To use a custom domain with your Studio.Design site, follow these steps in order. For more details, see Publish Your Site with a Custom Domain.
Step 1. Purchase a custom domain from an external service
Step 2. Create a site in Studio.Design and subscribe to a paid plan
Step 3. Prepare for custom domain connection in Studio.Design
Step 4. Configure DNS records in the external service (this article)
This article explains how to configure DNS records to connect a domain purchased on XServer Domain to your Studio.Design site, as part of Step 4 above.
Before You Begin
The instructions in this article apply to DNS record configuration for domains that were newly purchased and are managed on XServer Domain.
If you're switching a domain that's currently connected to a live site over to Studio.Design, please refer to Migrate Your Website to Studio.Design with an Existing Custom Domain.
These instructions are intended for users who have already completed Steps 1–3 of Publish Your Site with a Custom Domain.
(1) Open the DNS Settings for Your Domain
Log in to XServer Domain. You'll see your domain list.
Click the [⋮] icon next to your target domain, then select [DNS Record Settings].
(2) Add and Apply Studio.Design's A Record to Your Domain (DNS Record Settings)
Click [Add DNS Record Settings].
Enter Studio.Design's specified A record using the table below.
Click the [Proceed to Confirmation] button.
Hostname | • For a "without www" domain: Leave blank |
Type | A |
Content | 34.111.141.225 |
Tips: Domains With and Without "www"
• A domain with "www" and a domain without "www" are treated as two separate domains.
• In Studio.Design, you can only connect one domain to a website.
Example: If you connect the domain "example.com" (without www) to your Studio.Design site and publish it:
• Visiting "example.com": Your site will be displayed.
• Visiting "www.example.com": Your site will not be displayed.
4. Review the details and click [Add Settings].
Your DNS record setup is now complete.
(3) Verify That Your DNS Records Have Propagated
Use an external DNS lookup tool to confirm that the A record you set up has propagated correctly.
Example: Using Google Admin Toolbox Dig
Enter your target domain in the [Name] field.
If [34.111.141.225] appears in the [DATA] column of the results, your settings have propagated successfully.
The following situations may indicate an issue with your DNS settings:
A different address is displayed
Multiple addresses are displayed
A "No records found!" message is displayed
If this happens, please refer to Troubleshooting Custom Domain Connection Issues > How to Check Your DNS Record Settings.
Note: You can also check DNS propagation status using DNS Checker.
Once you've confirmed that the DNS records have propagated, proceed to Step 5 of Publish Your Site with a Custom Domain to verify the domain connection status in Studio.Design.
