Dynamic Pages: Create a CMS article page to display Studio CMS article items

Learn how to create a CMS article page that dynamically displays the title, body, thumbnail, and other properties from article items registered in Studio.Design CMS.

Point: What is Studio CMS?

Studio CMS is a CMS (Content Management System) feature that lets you structure, manage, and update content within Studio.Design. By combining models, items, and properties, you can centrally manage frequently updated article content like blogs and news posts.

For more on how Studio CMS works and how to use it, check out the articles below.

Features and structure of Studio CMS

In Studio CMS, you create and manage data in the CMS Dashboard, and create and design pages in the Design Editor. Here's an overview of the main tasks in each area.

When you link box elements to CMS properties, your content displays correctly on your site.

This article walks you through how to create a CMS article page to display the article items you've created in the CMS Dashboard.

If you haven't created your CMS article items yet, see the help article below.

You won't be able to follow the steps in this article unless you've already created your CMS article items.

Step 1. Create a dynamic page in the Design Editor

  1. A dynamic page comes with just a text box already linked to the title property, placed at the top of the screen.

  2. Under the Page tab in the right panel, set the page name, path, meta info, and more as needed.

Step 2. Add a rich text box to the dynamic page and link it to the body property

The body property—the main content of a CMS article item—displays through a rich text box. If you use a regular text box, things like line breaks won't display correctly.

If the body content doesn't show up, double-check the following:

  • You're using a rich text box, not a regular text box

  • You've linked it to the body property

Step 3. Add other boxes and CMS Lists

Display other CMS properties (such as publish date, author name, or article category) by linking them to box elements.

To lay out a list of related articles, use a CMS List.

Step 4. Adjust the look and layout of your article page

Fine-tune the overall layout and typography of your article page.

  1. Select a box on the screen and adjust its design using the tabs in the right panel (Box, Text, Image, etc.).

If the panel is closed, open the right panel.

  2. For details on design settings, see the help articles under Box design settings and Box types.

Step 5. Check your settings and display, then publish your site

Once you've reviewed how your CMS article page displays and the status of your CMS items, publish your changes to your live site.

  1. Use the selector at the bottom of the Page panel to switch between items on the article page, and confirm that the boxes linked to properties update correctly.

  2. Open Live Preview and make sure everything displays as expected.

  3. Check how the page looks on your live site.

    • Make sure the status is set to Published for all relevant CMS items.

    • If everything looks good, publish your site from the Publish panel.

    • If your site is already live, use Update Site to push your changes live.
