What is a Collection?
A collection lets you pick specific items from a model and group them together. For example, you can create a collection of “Recommended Events” or “Featured Articles” and display them on your website.
You can freely reorder items within a collection, making it easy to control the display order—especially helpful when the original model doesn’t let you manually sort items.
Collection Status
Each collection has a status that controls its visibility on your live site.
If you change a published collection, its status switches to [Changed].
To update your live site with the latest changes, set the status back to [Published] and update your site.
Common Use Cases
Collections are handy for:
Blog sites: Showcasing recommended articles.
Portfolio sites: Displaying works in a specific order.
Media sites: Arranging articles in a custom sequence.
Create a new collection
A collection can reference only one model at a time.
Steps:
Open the CMS dashboard.
Click the [+] next to “Collections” on the left side.
Enter a collection name and select the model you want to use.
Add items to your collection.
Adding Items to a Collection
There’s no limit to how many items you can add to a collection, but only up to 50 items can be displayed on your website.
Steps:
In the CMS dashboard, select your collection from the list on the left.
Click [+ Add Item] in the settings panel to add items.
To publish changes to your website, set the collection status to [Published].
Update your site to apply the changes.
How to Reorder Items in a Collection
Items in a collection appear on your site in the order you set in the settings panel.
Steps:
In the CMS dashboard, select your collection.
Drag and drop items using the icon that appears when you hover over them.
Set the status to [Published] and update your site to reflect the new order.
If you edit the design in the editor, you’ll need to update the entire site to see changes. If you only edit collections in the CMS dashboard, no site update is needed.
How to Remove Items from a Collection
Removing an item from a collection doesn’t delete the item itself.
Steps:
In the CMS dashboard, select your collection.
Hover over the item and click [×] to remove it.
Set the status to [Published] and update your site to apply the change.
If you edit the design in the editor, update your site to reflect changes. For CMS dashboard-only edits, no update is needed.
How to Change Collection Status
Changing a collection’s status controls whether it appears on your live site. For more details, see CMS Status and Publication Dates.
Steps:
In the CMS dashboard, select your collection.
Use the status menu in the top right to change the status.
How to Duplicate a Collection
Duplicating a collection creates a new collection with the same items. The new collection starts as a draft and is named “XXX (Copy)”.
Note:
Some users can’t duplicate collections if their permissions are restricted (for example, editors with limited CMS access on certain plans).
Steps:
Open the CMS dashboard.
Hover over the collection you want to duplicate and click the three-dot menu, then select [Duplicate].
How to Delete a Collection
Once deleted, a collection cannot be restored. Deleting a collection does not delete the items within it.
Steps:
Open the CMS dashboard.
Hover over the collection you want to delete and click the three-dot menu, then select [Delete].
Or, select the collection, open the three-dot menu in the settings panel, and choose [Delete].
Set the status to [Published] and update your site to apply the change.
If you edit the design in the editor, update your site to reflect changes. For CMS dashboard-only edits, no update is needed.
