Creating and managing projects

Learn how to create, duplicate, reset, and archive projects in Studio.Design.

Point: What is a project?

A project is the unit used to manage your design, CMS data, domain settings, and more, all in one place. For details, see What is a Studio.Design project?

Create a project

1. After signing in to Studio.Design, click [+ New Project] in the top-right corner of the screen.

Tips: Click [Start from a template] to visit the Studio.Design Store.

2. Choose how you'd like to create your project from the "Templates," "Wireframes," or "Favorites" tabs.

Templates tab

  • Start from blank

Choose this if you want to build from scratch (create a website from zero). You can also select this from the Wireframes tab.

  • Import from Figma

You can use the Figma plugin to import Figma design data into Studio.Design. For details, see Figma to Studio.Design.

  • Popular free templates

Popular free templates from the Studio.Design Store are shown here.

Templates give you a design starting point — just swap out the text and images to create a high-quality website in no time.

Scroll down to browse more free and paid templates.

If you want to use a paid template, also check out the Template purchase guide.

Wireframes tab

  • Start from blank

Choose this if you want to build from scratch (create a website from zero). You can also select this from the Templates tab.

  • Wireframes

Use pre-laid-out wireframes with sections and boxes to create your project.

There are three wireframe types: "Portfolio," "Corporate," and "Blog."

Favorites tab

Templates you've favorited in the Studio.Design Store are shown here.

To favorite a template, click the heart icon on its thumbnail, or use the heart button at the top of the template's detail page.

Duplicate a project

Duplicating a project creates a new project that carries over the design and CMS data.

Note: Projects started from a paid template in the Studio.Design Store can't be duplicated.

Roles that can duplicate

Only accounts with the following roles on the target project can duplicate it:

Things to know about duplication

  • When you duplicate a project, the design and CMS data are copied over, but the following items are not included in the duplicate.

▼ Items not included in the duplicate

    • Apps integration info

    • Project members

    • Form submission results

    • Payment info

    • Images and PDFs in the upload panel

    • Version history

  • If you duplicate a project on a paid plan, the duplicate is created as a Free plan project. No charges are incurred at the time of duplication.

How to duplicate a project

  1. Click the three-dot menu [...] on the right side of the project, then select [Duplicate].

  2. When the confirmation dialog appears, click [Duplicate].

  3. Once duplication is complete, the owner who ran it will receive an email notification, and the duplicated project will appear in the [Projects] list. Edit the project name and settings as needed.

Duplication runs asynchronously, so it may take some time to complete.

If you'd like to check the result before receiving the completion email, refresh the projects list.

Reset a project

Resetting a project returns it to its initial state.

For details, see Reset a project.

Archive a project

If you have projects you no longer need in your projects list, you can archive them to keep things organized.

Archived projects are hidden from the list of the account that archived them, but remain visible to other members who share the project.

Note: Projects can't be permanently deleted.

How to archive a project

  1. Open your projects list.

  2. Click the three-dot menu [...] on the right side of the project.

  3. Once archived, the project moves from [Projects] to [Archive].

How to restore an archived project

  1. Open your projects list.

  2. Click [Projects] in the top-left of the screen and switch to [Archive].

  3. Click the three-dot menu on the right side of the project, then click [Move back to Projects].
