Form submission issues: "Form submission failed" error when clicking submit

When you see an error after submitting a Studio.Design form, the main causes are usually issues with your Google reCAPTCHA v3 setup or your Google Sheets integration.

Causes and fixes for "Form submission failed" errors

A "Form submission failed" error is usually caused by an issue with your Google reCAPTCHA v3 setup or your Google Sheets integration. You can resolve it by following the steps below.

How to check and disconnect your Google reCAPTCHA v3 integration

  1. Open your project dashboard.

  2. Open the Apps menu and check whether "Google reCAPTCHA v3" is set up.

  3. If it's set up, disconnect the integration once.
    Clear the "Site key," "Secret key," and "Threshold" fields, then click [Save].

  4. Try submitting the form and check whether "Form submission successful" appears.

  5. If "Form submission successful" appears, review your "Google reCAPTCHA v3" settings.

How to disconnect and reconnect your Google Sheets integration

If you're sending form responses to Google Sheets, try the steps below.

Data may stop being sent if the sharing permissions on the spreadsheet or your Google account details have changed.

Steps

Disconnecting and reconnecting the integration will generate a new sheet that updates automatically.

  1. Open your project and go to the Forms dashboard.

  2. Select the form you'd like to disconnect and open its settings.

  3. Click [Disconnect].

  4. Click the external integration icon.

    Grant access on the screen that appears. Once the integration is complete, a dedicated sheet will be created automatically and will update each time a new response comes in.

  5. Try submitting the form and check whether "Form submission successful" appears.
