You can use an XML file exported from WordPress to bulk import blog posts, static pages, and more into Studio.Design's CMS.
This feature doesn't migrate your entire WordPress site structure or all of its settings as-is, so you may need to add or adjust content within Studio.Design afterward.
Note: Importing CMS data from other third-party services
Currently, imports from services other than WordPress and imports using CSV formats (such as Excel or Google Sheets) are not supported.
CMS data is imported with a publish status of [Draft]. To make it live on your published site, you'll need to change the publish status and publish the items.
What can be imported
From an XML file generated by WordPress's standard export feature, the following content can be imported into Studio.Design's CMS:
Posts
Authors (Username)
Tags (Name, Slug)
Categories (Name) *Parent Category not included
Static pages
Tip: About XML files
An XML file is a file written in a specific syntax for transferring data. It's the format used by WordPress's export feature.
Data that won't be imported or reflected
Data and settings that Studio.Design doesn't currently support can't be reproduced exactly as they appear in WordPress.
You may need to re-enter or reconfigure the following items in Studio.Design after the import:
Authors (Nickname, Profile Picture)
Tags (Description)
Categories (Slug, Description)
Media images *external references
Galleries (side-by-side images)
Insert buttons for audio, slideshows, files, etc.
Layout designs such as columns, spacers, and tables of contents
Related posts widgets and theme features
Embeds in general
Image captions
Custom fields
Taxonomies
Other things to keep in mind when importing CMS data
Content registered using custom post types can't be handled by Studio.Design's import feature.
Site-wide menu structures, widget settings, and similar configurations are not imported, so you'll need to rebuild them within Studio.Design.
Items extended on the WordPress side through themes or plugins may not import into Studio.Design as expected.
File size limit
The maximum size for an XML file you can import is 10MB.
What to do if the file exceeds the size limit
If your file is larger than 10MB, consider the following options:
If the file is just slightly over 10MB:
Delete any unnecessary posts or static pages in WordPress, re-export the XML file, and then import it into Studio.Design.
If the file is significantly over 10MB:
Use a file splitting tool or text editor to divide the exported XML file into pieces of 10MB or less, then import them one at a time.
A new model is created in Studio.Design for each import.
Since you can't select an existing Studio.Design model as the import destination, merging models from split imports into one requires manually moving items.

Other plans
With our other plans, the "chat support" mainly covers how to use features within Studio.Design and topics outlined in our help articles.
Based on our support policy, the chat team may not be able to provide detailed guidance on the specifications or behavior of external services like WordPress or its plugins, or on individual migration steps not covered in our articles.
How to import CMS data from WordPress to Studio.Design
1. Export an XML file from WordPress
Note: Working with external tools
These steps include working with an external tool. Questions about specifications or behavior outside the steps described in this article may be outside the scope of chat support.
The screens and specifications of the external tools shown in this article are based on information from July 2022. If anything looks different, please check the tool provider for the latest information.
Log in to WordPress, then in the admin panel, go to "Tools" and select "Export".
Click "Export All" to export your data.
An XML file will be downloaded. If it downloads as a
.zipfile, unzip it to retrieve the XML file.
Note: Currently, import is only guaranteed to work with XML files in the default format. Custom data formats aren't supported.
2. Import the XML file into Studio.Design's CMS
Open the CMS dashboard of the Studio.Design project you want to import into.
Select [Import].
If you haven't enabled the CMS yet, you'll see the [Get started by choosing a CMS template] screen. Click [Import XML file] at the bottom of the screen.
Import the XML file.
When the import finishes or fails, the user who started the import will receive a notification by email. *You can't interact with the CMS screen while an import is in progress.
Note: If the import fails or doesn't complete
If you see an [Import failed] error and the import stops partway, or if you don't receive a completion notification for an extended period, the issue may be related to the format or content of your XML file.
After logging in to Studio.Design, click the [?] icon in the lower right of the screen to contact chat support. Attaching the XML file you used will help us look into it more quickly.
Editing and publishing imported CMS data
Migrated CMS data (items) is imported with a publish status of [Draft]. To make it live on your published site, change the publish status to [Published].
How to edit and publish migrated data
Open the CMS dashboard.
From the left side of the screen, select the model you want to check (Posts, Categories, etc.).
Review and edit the imported items. For detailed editing instructions, see CMS Items.
Once you've finished editing, change the item's publish status to [Published].
Click the "Publish" button in the upper right of the item detail editing screen and select [Publish].
As long as a dynamic page (a CMS post page) for displaying the item on your site has been created, you can preview it using Live Preview even if its publish status is [Draft].
Note: "Referencing an external server" appears below an image in the editor
Images placed through a WordPress import or copied from another site may not be uploaded directly to Studio.Design and may instead reference an external server. If the source is deleted, the image will no longer display, so we recommend re-uploading the image to Studio.Design.
