Language settings for your published site

In Studio.Design, you can specify your site's language. This helps assistive technologies like translation tools and screen readers accurately identify and process the content on your site.

Point: This feature declares the language used on your site. It does not automatically translate your content.

Tips: For more on building with accessibility in mind, check out the Studio.Design Accessibility Checklist as well.

How site settings and page settings work together

You can configure the language setting for your entire site or for individual pages.

  • Page-level settings take priority over site-level settings for that specific page.

  • For example, if most of your pages are in Japanese but a few are in English, it's most efficient to set the site language to Japanese and then override the language to English on those specific pages.

How to set the language

(1) Open the Site Settings or Page Settings panel

Make sure no elements (boxes) are selected, then open the right panel.

  • To edit page settings, use the [Page] tab.

  • To edit site settings, use the [Site] tab.

(2) Select a language

  1. Scroll up or down in the right panel and choose a language from the [Language Settings] option.

  2. If your site is already published, make sure to update it to apply the changes.
