How to make your Studio.Design site accessible with and without 'www' in the URL

To allow visitors to reach your Studio.Design site from both the www and non-www versions of your URL, you'll need to use an external service or add-on. While this setup isn't supported via chat, here's an overview to get you started.

Allowing access to your Studio.Design site from both www and non-www URLs

Please note:

  • In line with our Studio.Design Support Policy, our support team is not able to provide detailed guidance on the methods covered in this article or advise on which service to choose.

  • Setup support and consultation are only available with select Enterprise plans. For details, feel free to reach out through our contact form.

At this time, Studio.Design does not offer a built-in feature that allows your site to be accessed from both the www and non-www versions of a URL.

You can achieve this using one of the methods below, but setup requires knowledge of server configuration and network infrastructure.

  1. Set up a separate server to handle redirects

  2. Use the Custom Proxy feature available as an add-on

Tip: How site publishing works in Studio.Design

With Studio.Design, you can only connect one domain to your published website.

For example, if you connect "example.com" to your project and publish it, your Studio.Design site will show up when visitors go to "example.com", but it won't appear when they visit "www.example.com".

1. Set up a separate server to handle redirects

Connect your domain to a separately contracted server, then use an ".htaccess file" to redirect visitors from there to your actual Studio.Design site.

This method requires knowledge of server settings and HTTP redirects. For details on configuration, please contact your server provider directly.

2. Use the Custom Proxy feature

Available plans: Business Plus and above

With this method, you add the Custom Proxy add-on, then use an external reverse proxy or CDN to route both www and non-www requests to your Studio.Design site.

Technically, this involves using redirects (301/302) or proxy forwarding, and it also supports SEO canonicalization.

Please note:

Custom Proxy is an advanced feature. Setting it up requires knowledge of proxy server operations and network infrastructure.
