Supported domain types
You can connect one root domain (for example, example.com) or one subdomain (for example, blog.example.com or www.example.com) to a single project.
Supported characters
There are no restrictions on the alphanumeric characters used in top-level domains (such as ".com", ".co.jp", ".jp", or ".net").
Domains that combine Japanese characters with uppercase letters are not supported.
Note:
By default, Studio.Design does not allow your site to be accessed from both the "www" and non-"www" versions of your URL.
Only one domain can be connected when you publish a site with Studio.Design.
A root domain (for example, example.com) and a subdomain (for example, www.example.com) are considered different domains, so your site can only be accessed through whichever one you've connected.
It is technically possible to allow access from both domains by using an external service or the Custom Proxy add-on (paid), which is available on the Business Plus plan or higher.
For more details, see the help article below.
Getting a domain
Studio.Design does not offer a domain registration service. To publish a site on Studio.Design with a custom domain, you'll first need to purchase a domain from an external domain registrar.
Things to know about connecting a custom domain
Publishing under a subdirectory
If you're on the Business Plus plan or higher, you can use the Custom Proxy add-on to publish your Studio.Design site under a subdirectory of a site hosted on another server (for example, example.com/blog). For details, see Setting up a custom proxy.
Email services
Studio.Design does not provide email services. To use an email address (email account) with your custom domain, you'll need to sign up for an email service separately and configure the required records. For details, see How can I use an email account with a custom domain that's connected and published through Studio.Design?
Transferring a domain
Studio.Design does not offer a domain management service. If you no longer want to manage your domain with your previous service, please transfer it to another external domain management service.
Also, if the domain you plan to connect to your Studio.Design site already has an A record pointing to another service, we recommend shortening the "TTL" of that A record on your domain management service as much as possible beforehand. Once the original TTL period has passed, you can start configuring your settings in Studio.Design for a smoother domain setup.
Servers
All Studio.Design sites are managed on Studio.Design's servers, even when using a custom domain. Please note that you cannot use a server you've prepared yourself.
