Apps Integration: Connect Channel Talk

Learn how to add the Channel Talk chat service to your Studio.Design site using the Apps integration feature.

This article walks you through adding Channel Talk chat support to your Studio.Design site using the Apps integration feature.

Note:

  • This guide includes steps that involve a third-party service. We may not be able to provide chat support for questions about the third-party service's specifications, behavior, or steps not covered in this article.

How to connect Channel Talk

Step 1. Get your Plugin Key from Channel Talk

First, you'll need to get the Plugin Key from Channel Talk for installing the chat widget.

  1. Create an account on the Channel Talk website and log in to the admin panel (Channel Desk).

  2. Click the [Settings] button in the lower-left corner of the admin panel to go to the settings page.

  3. From the settings menu, click "Chat Installation & Settings" > "Install Chat Button."

  4. Click the edit button next to the plugin name and give your plugin a descriptive name.

  5. Enter a plugin name that matches the page or platform you'll be using, then click "Create a new plugin." A new installation code will be generated.

  6. In the "Install Plugin" tab, find and copy the Plugin Key from the web installation code.

    Make sure to get the code for the appropriate platform (Web, Android, or iOS).

Step 2. Set up the Apps integration in Studio.Design

  1. Log in to Studio.Design and open the dashboard for the project you want to update.

  2. Click [Apps] in the left menu.

  3. Select [Channel] from the Apps list.

  4. When the editing modal opens, paste the Plugin Key you copied from Channel Talk into the [Plugin Key] field, then save.

Step 3. Verify it's working

Note: The Channel Talk chat button only appears on your published site. It will not appear in Live Preview.

  1. Publish or update your site.

  2. Visit your published site's URL and check that the Channel Talk chat button appears at the bottom of the page.
