Change Text Color or Background Color for Part of Your Text

Learn how to use the rich text box to change the color or background color of specific parts of your text in Studio.Design.

Using the rich text box

With a rich text box, you can apply special styles like bold, italic, and underline, as well as heading tags. By using these special styles and heading tags creatively, you can set custom colors for specific portions of text within the box.

This article shows you how to change the color of selected text within a rich text box.

Note: Regular text boxes don't support special styles. Be sure to use a rich text box.

How to change the color of selected text using rich text

You can pre-define colors for each special style (bold, italic, underline) or heading tag (<h1>–<h6>) and apply them to your text.

Step 1. Select the range

When you apply a special style like bold to part of your text, you'll be able to select just that portion of the rich text.

  1. Double-click the rich text and select the area you want to change the color of.

  2. With the text still selected, temporarily apply a special style (such as bold).

  3. Click outside the rich text once to apply the change.

Step 2. Define the style and color

  1. Double-click the rich text box again. You'll find that only the portion you styled in Step 1 is selectable.

  2. Change the color of the selected portion.

  3. After changing the color, use the right panel to adjust the appearance of the style you applied in step 2. If the right panel is closed, open it.

Step 3. Apply the defined color

  1. Double-click the rich text box and select the area where you want to apply the color.

  2. When you apply the same style you used in Steps 1 and 2 (such as bold), the defined color will automatically be applied based on that style.

Frequently asked questions

Q. Can I use different color definitions for each CMS article?

A. Special style settings are shared across all articles within the same CMS model, so you can't define different colors for individual articles.

For example, if you change the bold text color to red in one article, the bold text in all other articles within the same model will also turn red.

There are two ways to work around this:

  1. Create separate CMS models to manage the articles.

  2. Use different special styles.
