Set up links to open and close a modal

Learn how to link to an existing modal page and how to add a close link to elements within a modal.

Point: What is a modal?

A modal is a popup window that displays additional information on top of the current page without navigating away.

If you want to use content data created with Studio CMS, use a dynamic modal.


Set up a link to open a modal

You can add a link to open a modal on any box, such as a button or image.

  1. Select the box you want to add the modal link to.

  2. Open the [Settings] tab in the right panel.

    If the panel is closed, open the right panel.

  3. Click the [+] button in the [Link] settings menu.

  4. Select the modal page you want to link to from the list.

  5. If you're editing a published site, update your site from the publish panel. Your changes won't appear on the live site until you do.


Set up a link to close a modal

  1. A close link is added to elements like buttons on a modal page.

  2. Select the element on the modal that you want to assign the close action to.

    Open the [Settings] tab in the right panel.

    If the panel is closed, open the right panel.

  3. Click the [+] button in the [Link] settings menu.

  4. Select [Close modal] from the list.

  5. If you're editing a published site, update your site from the publish panel. Your changes won't appear on the live site until you do.
