Point: What is Studio CMS?

Studio CMS is a built-in content management system (CMS) that lets you structure, manage, and update content directly within Studio.Design. By combining models, items, and properties, you can centrally manage frequently updated content like blog posts and news articles.

This article explains how to set up navigation paths to CMS article pages created with Studio CMS.
You'll place a CMS list on a page like your homepage, configure links to your article pages, and create a structure that lets visitors navigate your site smoothly.

If you haven't created a CMS article page yet, refer to the following help article:

You won't be able to follow the steps in this article if a CMS article page hasn't been created yet.

Step 1: Create a CMS article page list using a CMS list

Use a CMS list to create a box that displays a list of your article items.

As an example, here's how to place one on your homepage.

  1. Open the Design Editor.

  2. Create a CMS list at the position on the screen where you want the list to appear.

  3. Select the article model linked to your CMS article page as the CMS model to connect to the CMS list.

  4. Edit the layout and appearance of the list, and add the boxes you need — such as the title, thumbnail image, and summary text.

  5. Connect the appropriate CMS properties to the boxes you placed.

Step 2: Set up links to CMS article pages

Add links to boxes inside the CMS list so visitors can navigate to your CMS article pages (dynamic pages).

  1. In the Design Editor, select one item inside the CMS list.

Choose the box you want visitors to click — such as the article title, thumbnail image, or button.

  2. In the right panel, open the [Link] tab and click the link settings field.

If the panel is closed, open the right panel first.

  3. From the site page list in the link settings field, select the article model's dynamic page (CMS article page) as the link destination.

  4. When you set a link on one item in the list, the same link setting is automatically applied to all other items with the same box structure.

Step 3: Verify your link settings and page navigation

Make sure the links you set up correctly navigate to the CMS article pages.

  1. Open Live Preview, then click the box you linked — such as the article title or thumbnail — and confirm that it takes you to the CMS article page.

  2. On the CMS article page you navigated to, check that the title, body text, and other CMS properties are displaying correctly.

Common issue: The linked page doesn't display

If clicking the link doesn't show the page, check the following:

  • Make sure the CMS article page (dynamic page) for the article model you set as the link destination actually exists.
If the page hasn't been created, the linked page won't display.
If it hasn't been created yet, refer to Create a CMS article page to display the body of a Studio CMS article item to create one.

  • Confirm that the CMS model connected to the CMS list is the same CMS model connected to the CMS article page.

  • Check that the publish status of the CMS items linked to the CMS article page is set to [Published].
