You can easily move your posts, categories, and more from WordPress to Studio.Design’s CMS by using an exported XML file from WordPress. This helps you avoid manual migration work and makes switching your site to Studio.Design a smooth experience.
Point : Currently, only WordPress imports are supported. To request support for other services, open chat from the [Help icon] in the lower right of the editor and send a message under "Feature Requests."
Imported items in Studio.Design are set to draft status, so be sure to publish them after import.
Supported Data
You can import the following XML data types to Studio.Design:
Posts
Authors (Username, First Name, Last Name, Nickname, Profile Picture)
Tags (Name, Slug, Description)
Categories (excluding Parent Categories: Name, Slug, Description)
Media images used in the above content
Tip: An XML file is a file structured specifically for transferring data. WordPress uses this format for its export feature.
Unsupported Data
Some data from WordPress cannot be imported to Studio.Design. This includes:
Galleries (side-by-side images)
Audio, slideshow, or file insertion buttons
Design elements like columns, spacers, and tables of contents
Related posts widgets, theme features
All types of embeds
Image captions
Custom fields
Taxonomies
File Size Limit
The maximum file size for imports is 10MB. If your file exceeds this, try these solutions:
For files just over 10MB: Remove unnecessary data in WordPress, export again, and re-import.
For files well above 10MB: Split the exported XML file (using a text editor or splitting tool) into parts under 10MB each, and import separately. Each import creates a new CMS model in Studio.Design. To combine models, move items manually; you can't import into an existing model.
Support Options
The [Chat Support] channel does not cover support for external service specifications or steps outside this article’s instructions. Please understand that some issues may fall outside chat support coverage.
Exporting an XML File from WordPress

Log in to WordPress and go to the admin dashboard.
From [Tools], select [Export].
Click [Export All] to download your data.
If the file downloads as a .zip, unzip it to extract the XML file.
Importing to Studio.Design’s CMS
Open the CMS dashboard of the Studio.Design project where you want to import data.
Select [Import].
If the CMS feature isn’t enabled yet, use the [Choose CMS Template to Get Started] screen. Click [Import XML File] at the bottom of the screen.
3. Upload and import the XML file.
You’ll get an email notifying you if the import succeeds or fails.
During the import, the CMS screen will be locked for editing.
Note: If your import fails or won’t complete, it may be a file format or content issue. For stalled uploads due to technical problems, please contact us from the Help icon in Studio.Design, attaching your XML file for smoother resolution.
Editing and Publishing Imported Data
Imported content appears in draft status in Studio.Design. Use the CMS dashboard to review and publish imported items.
Editing and Publishing Steps
Open the CMS dashboard.
Select the model (e.g., Posts, Categories) you want to review from the left sidebar.
Confirm, edit, and fine-tune migrated items. For more editing details, see our [Items article].
Note: If you see "Referring to external server" below an image in the editor, it means the image wasn’t uploaded directly to Studio.Design but is shown from another site. If the original is deleted, your image won’t display. We recommend re-uploading these images to Studio.Design.
4. To publish: Click the [Publish] button in the editor’s sidebar. You can preview content live while it’s in draft status before publishing.
If you still have questions, chat with us using the Help icon in the lower right corner of the editor.
