When I upload a long vertical image, it makes image coarse.

In May 2025, a 1GB file size limit was set for each upload, and as a result, the original images you upload are now used as-is on your site.

Point: What’s New with Image Uploads?

As of May 2025, Studio.Design allows you to upload files up to 1GB each. We’ve also removed the automatic image compression and resizing that used to happen during uploads.

This means: Your images are now displayed at their original quality and size—no more unexpected loss of detail just from uploading.

Why Might My Image Still Look Blurry?

Even with these improvements, there are a couple of reasons your images might still appear coarse or blurry after uploading.

1. The Display Size and Image Resolution Don’t Match

If the size your image appears on your web page (in pixels) is very different from the resolution of the image you uploaded, your browser will automatically stretch or shrink the image to fit. This can make your image look blurry or pixelated.

What you can do:

Before uploading, adjust your image’s pixel dimensions so they’re as close as possible to the size you want it to appear on your web page.

2. The Image Has an Extreme Aspect Ratio

Uploading images with unusual proportions—like a very long, vertical image (for example, 120px × 12,000px)—can cause your page layout to break or make the image look coarse.

What you can do:

Crop or resize your image to a more standard aspect ratio, such as 4:3 or 16:9, before uploading. This helps your image display more clearly and keeps your layout looking great.
