Uploading and Managing Files (Images, Videos, PDFs)

You can upload images, videos, and PDF files to use in your projects. This guide covers the basics of uploading, managing, and deleting files.

Point: For details about supported file types and storage limits, see: File Formats and Size Limits When Uploading

Uploading Files

You can upload files in a few different ways.

Maximum file size: 1GB per file.

Note: You can’t upload video files using Figma to Studio.

Drag & Drop

Simply drag your file onto the editor screen.

Using the [Uploads] Panel

  1. Open the left panel ([>]), select [Add] to open the Add Panel.

  2. In the Add Panel, select [Uploads].

  3. To upload images or videos, choose [Assets] from the dropdown at the top. To upload PDFs, select [PDF].

  4. Click the [+] button at the top and select [Upload Files] to add your file.

Tip: You can also double-click an image or video box on your canvas to open the Uploads Panel.

Renaming Files

Double-click a file name to edit it.

Deleting Files

Tip:If you open the Uploads Panel by double-clicking a box on your page, the delete button won’t appear.

To delete a single file:

  1. Hover over the file’s thumbnail in the Uploads Panel.

  2. Click the [×] button to delete it.

To delete multiple files at once:

  1. Select all the files you want to delete.

  2. Click the delete icon at the top of the panel to remove them all at once.

Note:

  • Deleting a PDF removes it from your project immediately.

  • Deleting images or videos moves them to the Trash.

  • To permanently delete them, remove them from the Trash. Once a file is permanently deleted, it can’t be restored—even with the Version History feature.

Changing File Display in the Uploads Panel

Use the icons next to the search bar to change how files are displayed or sorted.

  • View Mode: Switch between panel Grid and List view.

  • Sort Files: Sort by Oldest or Newest uploads.

  • Filter by Type: Show [All] files, only [Images], or only [Videos].

Deleting a Folder

Deleting a folder moves it to the Trash. To permanently remove it, delete it from the Trash.

Tip:If you open the Upload Panel by double-clicking a box on your page, the delete button won’t appear.

To delete a single folder:

  1. Hover over the folder’s thumbnail in the Upload Panel.

  2. Click the [×] button to delete it.

To delete multiple folders at once:

  1. Select all the folders you want to delete.

  2. Click the delete icon at the top of the panel to remove them all at once.
