Change Text Orientation (Horizontal or Vertical)

Learn how to change text orientation between horizontal and vertical in Studio.Design. This article explains the differences between each option and the conditions for using this feature.

Note: The text composition feature is only available when Typesquare, provided by Morisawa, is enabled.

How to change text composition (horizontal or vertical)

  1. Select the text box whose composition you want to change.

  2. In the right panel, select the [Text] tab.

    If the panel is closed, open the right panel.

  3. Change the composition under [Direction].

  • Horizontal: Standard horizontal writing.

  • Horizontal (with kerning): Horizontal writing with tighter character spacing.

  • Vertical: Vertical writing for Japanese fonts.

  • Vertical (rotated Latin): Vertical writing for Latin-character fonts.
